So we've been building a PvE Community...

(kking1, maplethesnippa, cooliojulio, Devongames, Snowie, flashlight50, bobafettacheese, DCL_, scottenergybeam, and many others)

And I was wondering if it would be possible to have a protection set over it. That way, we could have a place for noobs to come, get supplies, and not grief the crap out of it at the same time! This idea for a community is a very good one from kking, and it would really benefit noobs that go in PvE.

ALSO, if this community does get a protection, to prevent mess-ups from a reset, I would be delighted to have it WE'd to my empty land for the time being.

We've also implemented rules into the community to keep order; no griefing, stealing, etc. Of course it can still happen, but I feel that the current members that we have are mature enough to keep that order.

Voice your ideas and suggestions! I'd love to hear them.

sounds like alot of work for alien! lol anyways we already have a world thats grief free. if u guys really want to help try directing the new people to the website were they may claim their own personal land.. PVE is meant as a resource gathering world from what i understand.

I think we should have a prettifying project for the pve, because it looks like nuclear disaster....so, when will we start? Haha.

PVE is getting reset in 1.5 I think. The purpose of it is mainly for gathering resources, the main greifer of pve are creepers (look at all the blast holes around the pve spawn). You would also have to explain to new players why YOU got protected land in pve and they didnt. I think we should be encouraging all new players to claim land in build, instead of setting up bases in PVE as its just going to lead to disappointment.

I didnt read other posts so I realised after I posted this that I pretty much 100% copied fista cuffs post:o

I know it's for gathering resources, but it's obvious that practically every newcomer goes straight to PvE. The project is more of a short welcoming.

I mean, we could even build a village like the old one on the floating island in WAR, if you remember it. We could put in instructions, basically just give them a welcome.

Of course, this is all based on if Alien feels that it's a good idea.

@Fista I know that that's how most of us use it, but for noobs, they tend to use it for team guilds and stuff

@Striker Most definitely, maybe a more organized one with prettier builds from senior members.

You are missing the point of PVE, if you encourage noobs to build "guild houses" in it, it WILL get greifed and they will be upset, and most likely leave the server because they didn't know they could be greifed in PVE, why not just encourage those noobs to make their "guild houses" in build, if they want to work in teams our permissions system is great for that. Or they can goto war.

You're missing the point of what I'm saying. I mean that we build a small village that tells them how to get set on MCA; instructions for the Build world, how PvE works, etc. I'm just saying that some people just like to do survival guilds sometimes, but that they need warnings that they should not rely on PvE for a home, just use it for supplies.

Basically a village with the basics.

There will be a sign area popping up somewhere in spawn (I think it's at the cathedral over the back)
It will have all the information on how to get started etc. so if that is your only reason for making it then it isn't needed

Ehhhhh... will there be a way to get to it other than walking? I was lucky to find it lol

There will likely be a portal somewhere on the main spawn platform that goes there.

Is there a way to make a newly spawned player start with a book with all of this stuff in it? Or is there no way to preserve NBT tags?

If there is, maybe /kit starter could include a guide book or something?

If there could be a book, that'd be awesome for noobs! I could make, it anyone would let me :3

Or a command block at spawn that you can press to get a guide book (command blocks can store NBT Tag values), Pre-written books wouldnt damage the economy either lol.

Kudos to kking and the rest who are doing the PvE city.
good fun, great way to bring in new people, (this is needed on the server, i think)

so what if it gets griefed? rebuild!!

I've seen plenty of servers with rulebooks like that. I think there should be a few plugins that do this. Storing the NBT tags shouldn't really be that hard I suppose.

Also, there should be plugins that enable you to have newcomers spawn at a different place than the actual spawn, this would be useful for having them spawn in the cathedral.

Heck yeah! The community is getting too big to be bothered by a mere griefing. It's looking great!

I did have something for rule books and what not a while ago on dev.
Bukkit did some strange update a few months ago that messed with all the NBT data and how its stored and it got completely screwed over.

It may appear one day when I get some time to work on it again.

Aaah yes, Survival; my favourite topic.
Ive had a look at this place and i was impressed with the layout and builds. I think we should accept this for what it is; a social experiment. This will only work if the right people have access. As soon as the wrong person arrives, thats it, its gone. And the more people who read this thread and the more who get tped there, the greater the chance that MrGrief will have all his dreams come true. Sad though it sounds, there are those out there who will destroy for the fun of it; the same goes for real life.

I admire you guys for doing this. But please accept that the rules still apply. Everything in PVE belongs to Mr Creep and Mr End. Please don't get upset when the inevitable happens. There is a challenge to keep its location secret and another to find it.

The golden rule that applys to all worlds; Never accept a tp request from a stranger.

Good luck with this, and i will be over later to build a solid diamond house to rival MrJangles's.
