PvP Question

I popped my head into Survival today. Was just walking around the area, exploring. And a member came up to me (cant remember name, something Wolf) and tried attacking, nothing. I attack him, nothing.

I thought that in PvP, you were supposed to be able to kill other members. I was out in the wilderness, not in a safe zone or anything. Care to explain?

pve or the factions world...

you would know it says it infront of your name when you chat.

If you just walked through one portal, you were in pve, where there is no pvp. If you walked through the factions portal as well, then it is possibly because you didn't 'explore' far enough out.

I believe this occurred in PvE, there was some confusion on the server about whether or not pvp was enabled out there. As gods and lofp said, the pvp area is in Survival world (you can check by either typing in chat or doing /getpos)

I went from Spawn to Survival gate, then jumped out of the island. Is that PvE or PvP? I thought that world was PvP...

Edit: Unless I missed it somewhere, you never specified what was PvE and PvP. Yes, there are Build, Creative, Nether and Survival. But never specified what "part" of survival is.

Maybe there should be two gates in the survival building in the spawn world. It'd clear some confusion up if it was clearly labeled too.

pvp survival portal is in the pve world

So the PVP portal is the one marked "Fanctions"? It totally confuses me...

yes, because PVP is in the Factions world ie: where we have the factions plugin (pvp plugin for alliances) enabled.

As a new user you see survival this could mean many things.

But you know that it would prob mean something like singleplayer.

So you go in that world and enjoy a singleplayer experience + coop.

And as a new player you dont get killed all the time by other players.

Now once you pass that test.
You are ready to go to pvp.

This is called the factions world. (currently in game its called "survival" the in game name is a problem and we know about that cause it can make you think you are going to that world)

We plan to change the name to pvp.

As for making it more obvious we are still debating this.

Untill we have better ways to explain things we are going to keep it as is.
So that new users dont just walk into a death trap.

I hope that explains it.

New users comes in goes to pve first. once he understands this he will then move onto pvp.

Yeah, that is quite confusing... How long have you had this configuration for? Sound like it's been for awhile...

Guess I was more used to "only PvP" except in towns dilemma. *gets idea out of my head*

nope since the name survival is still there its only been recently that we made the changes

Maybe In order to lessen the confusion among the newbies, we have 2 signs clearly saying what's pve and what's
Pvp. It would clear up the confusion among players.
And then they would stop asking so many questions.

We need some sort of system to let the new
Players know of some stuff beforehand.
At least the site URL would be nice. Just out a sign out with it so they know where to visit.

we have a better option that we are already starting to implement.

no one reads signs.

this is a proven fact.

only 5% of users ever read the signs and thats only if we force it on them.

we are planing on something else. but still testing its worth.

lets hope it works out.

as for the pve and pvp being like this for a while? I'm not sure where your getting that idea. these are new world. factions just got created not even last month. pve not even a few weeks ago.
