There's a fair amount of issues with Factions, personally I find it dull due to the safezone and bases. Other people like it. With the pvp it's been purpose built for the best pvp experience possible with continual balancing in order to keep on top of it. I don't know if factions will be added again, but I think it needs a rethink to prevent the stalemates of the past.
 
meh well i liked the factions but i also like the new pvp its just wich ever team is strongest will be killing everyone in pvp for a while then a new team will come in and take the spotlight from them and so on and so on.
both pvp's are good but i prefered the factions kinda. because you had a choice fight in pvp or chill with your friends and make a cool faction base to live in but either way it is still good. Its just now it depends who you team with. And in old pvp it was you had a faction team allied with other factions so then it was still teams just u couldn't actually hit the people on your team.
i do hope that old pvp comes back with a warzone similar to the current pvp.
