For old times sake we have archived the forums to keep bot spam down and keep the original history of the server archived for future players to browse. We have moved to discord now for a closer community feel. If the server gains a ton more players again like the past the forums will reopen with the original sections archived and locked.

Once we're updated, we'll be back and kicking. The current map will never reset and as things stand now it will always be available to play on. We're working on getting 1.8 running for at least a couple of weeks.

but what about all our mac users out there jangles they will have trouble playing on addicts in 1.8 how are you planning to tackle this issue this would not be ideal as many of our users have macs

am i right
 
no gods i mean when jangles updates us to 1.8 as he said just now , how are mac users meant to use our server if 1.8 has issues with macs
 
1.8 only has issues with certain, older macs, running outdated software. Besides, wouldn't we just go to 1.0, instead of 1.8?
 
I think updating to 1.8 will be pointless with 1.0 coming out very soon. There has also been news that bukkit will be ready for 1.0 when minecraft is out.

Pivot:

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6 Mac OSX. There are no issues with minecraft other than Advanced GL which is supposed to be fix in 1.9 (Which has been). I saw wait a week then update server... my two cents.
 
Ahh yes, the outdated mac problem...
Isn't it just like 40$ to get the OS update?
 
30$ actually, and i know the OS lion is compatible with minecraft. So no need to worry there.
 
As for 1.0 we'll still have to wait for plugins so 1.8 will be around for a while yet.
 
ah right i only know macs have issues cause assaultcommand told me he may not be around in 1.8 now i know why. he must have an older mac os thanks for the input dan and jeff

if we look at our calenders, we would see that this friday the OFFICIAL release of minecraft comes out. So why are we worried on getting 1.8 if, by the time we actually get it, everyone is on 1.9! And since they recently went into code freeze to fix bugs and such, it wouldn't make sense to go onto a buggy version. They might have gotten rid of the Dupe bug that has prevented the awesomeness of pistons onto our server! Of course ,by that time, all the plugins that we use will be stable and available for 1.8. So it really depends on the
circumstances as of now. But either way, we have to update soon.
 
Dude, I'm using Leopard, which is less old than Vista, and I know a LOT of people still use Vista.

if we intend to skip 1.8 and aim for the release, we will have to wait until all of our plugins are updated for release, it could be another month and a half or so before we update. we are going to go to 1.8 so we dont lose all of our players.

We are chasing a train we missed a week ago and caught up to it at the next station... It is about to leave again and we are not packed...

We will keep missing the train unless we wait for bus and ride that to the end station called final release. By the time we update to 1.8, everyone will not be on 1.8 or 1.9, they'll be playing the final release. And why in the world would they rollback (essentially downgrading) from a FINAL release?
 
Assault final release is tommorow, and they will downgrade for the same reason we all have to 1.7 to play on this server.
