finchig told me this was where i should put this.. so here goes.

when the old historic world was the only world we had architect as a rank, and when build and the other worlds were made it vanished mysteriously.

i was wondering, if we cant have that one back why not have a rank that showed that you were here for the historic world being the only world. not Architect but Addict, it would go to those who were here when the other worlds were nonexistent or at least not known of.

so .. how about it?

Perhaps for those who've been around for at least about a month before the new worlds?

The reason behind getting rid of Architects was that chat was quote, "messy". Yet more ranks were added...

Ranks aren't a focus on here. We have ranks for staff members, and for people who pay. I think adding more just adds to the confusion as to what each rank means.

Jeff's hit it on the nose. The donor rank is green (just a different shade) it just means a different kind of builder.

Our ranks/colours are for staff only to make them stand out when they speak in chat.

the addicts were originally members and huge contributers to the server and site. then they lost their power to the rm group.. then they were completely removed because people thought they were staff.

I was thinking that those who have been on this server for a long time should be recognized for that achievement and we, long time "addicts", are currently not at all recognized. I know that ranks are not the “focus” of the server, but I still believe that there should be some recognition for people who have been on the server for almost two years to show some differentiation between them and someone who just joined the server. It was said that there would be a replacement for the Architect rank and since that did not workout, maybe we could just revert it back to the good old days of Architects.

I think we've made our point as to why it was removed in the first place, so I really doubt they'd re-add it.

Also, does it really matter? Most people know who's been here a long time. And besides, it's Minecraft. Just go and enjoy it and don't fret over getting special recognition or not.

Says the person with a rank.

Almost every server I have been on has some sort of senior member status. I think it is ridiculous that I have been here for a little less that two years and I am recognized no differently than a day-one-noob. The demotion from pioneer/architect was a bit of a slap in the face for the people who did not become staff.

Not to mention they removed the exclusive commands that architects had, like /back (which I had as a builder when I was first demoted) to donor only as an "incentive" to donate. Thats the real kick in the pants, that you could care less about the players that don't give money to the server. The last year has been all about getting more money. I understand that you need money to pay for the server, but you did it in a way that drove away a bunch of the original players and attracted the wrong group of players here.

No donor has /back, nor do RMs. I don't even think moderators have it (I could be wrong).

Drive away people? Who'd it drive away? And how does that attract the wrong kind of people? All we did was make the whole ranking system easier to understand.

I believe the old commands that architects/pioneers had were /me and /tpahere but it is not about the commands, it is about recognition.

By the wrong group of people, I'm talking about PvP. How many times a day do you see "OMG HAX!" or "GUYS HE KILLED ME LETS ALL GO GET HIM!!!1". What happened to the casual build server? And did the over 13 rule just get phased out? Because he have freakin 9 year olds playing on here now. By using the logic of ranks don't matter, everyone should just have a green name. No reason to announce you're an RM/ moderator/Admin/OP.

so its my understanding your all not liking the ranking system...

i understand..

the casual build stuff has been a disappointment because of the factions increase of pvp players.

as for ranks really cant comment too much on the architect pioneer thing. the reason as you should all know was it was confusing to new players...

as far as i know the /back dosnt work for anyone. however tpahere seems to work for donors.

The minor confusion of ranks is easily solvable by just changing the color and not having the [RM],[AD] thing, we mainly just want recognition, which currently we are not getting.

I agree with the OP of this thread.

but michael your taking this way out of context.

lets start with
the wrong group of people

- First you blame the way we needed to get money as the main cause for the wrong people to join the server.
( you know I kinda agree with this it could have been done better and there are changes that need to happen. but the bottom line if we dint do it there would have been no server left at all.)

- Then you change that to blame pvp as the cause that we have all the wrong people on the server.
(its been well known that some of the staff dont like pvp but others do and this server is now servicing both if pvp was not on here we would be dead.)

I hope you noticed that if we dint move in those directions the server would have died. Change is needed some times its rushed some times its well planned. but over all its needed. ( thats why I'm agreeing with the above post )

Then you say that there was a 13 rule? the server has never had a 13 rule. the forums do but they can bypass that with a fax from there parents its always been the case. (not sure if you knew that)

Its true that its always better to work and talk with users that are 13 and above in general. but this server is catering for a wider audience not just for you.

everyone should just have a green name
? yah that would be great. (sarcastic) new users comes on, wants someone that is in charge and any one can pose as that person. ( Maybe you want every one to be on the same page? maybe you feel left out. I'm not sure. )

The bottom line is that as usual I'm not attacking you just trying to make things clear and help you get your ideas out there. and also so that you can see that we try. and if it helps remember the smiley faces next to each one of my comments :)

so take the time to pick a battle. I'm not trying to put you down I'm trying to tell you to work out your statements. You said some things that make sense just not in the right context.

I agree with lofp.

The whole departure from just a build server is one that some people don't necessarily like, but it's completely unrelated.

As for getting recognition, donate maybe? That's the only way I see people getting a "new" rank.

In my opinion, promoting people to a sort of "veteran" rank would be quite arbitrary. How long would people have to be on? How active would they have to be? There would have to be some sort of guideline as to what constitutes a promotion. And because of that, I don't see it happening.
