For old times sake we have archived the forums to keep bot spam down and keep the original history of the server archived for future players to browse. We have moved to discord now for a closer community feel. If the server gains a ton more players again like the past the forums will reopen with the original sections archived and locked.

Hi there addicts!

I want to start a discussion about the shop.

Basically I'd like to hear the pros and cons of:

Keeping our /shop
VS
remove /shop and add a plugin that makes player shops better.


If you have something to say on this, speak now or forever hold your tounge, or something along those lines.

Personally I like the shop but I think a new plugin wouldn't go amiss. I would love to be able to have a shop automated and not take up tons of space for each exchange as it would currently. It would also mean that players could compete with the /shop more!

From my point of view it would be bad to get rid of the /shop altogether as it is useful for the things that aren't that plentiful like lilly pads.
 
Personally, I think that we should keep /shop as it is very convenient when mining to sell all your goodies, where as with there was a /warp shop or player shops, you'd have to leave where you are mining (or anything for that matter). /shop also makes it really easy to sell the items you want to sell, where as without a command you have to run around the shop area to find where to sell what you want to sell.

Although I think we should keep /shop I think that it'd also be cool to have player shops at the same time, that way if other people have goodies to sell to you, there is less of a chance of you getting scammed, and it means you can a) sell stuff while offline and b) people who make shops can actually stock them, and sell while offline.

I would like to keep the /shop as it lets us buy mass amounts of resources at once and not need to wait or get it manually.

I am also for the idea of getting a new plugin that would allow us to buy things from other players (safely) but I do not know of any that work. I think the newer shop could be used so that caps are able to move throughout the server instead of all of them landing in our current /shop as fast as they do.
 
Just a couple other things I've thought about:
If you guys were to remove /shop there could be lots of problems, seeing as you'd have to find a player's shop to sell at (there aren't exactly a lot of them) and then you'd have to sell to them. You can run into problems should the player's shop get full or the player runs out of money.
Also, without /shop and only player shops, there always the chance of someone running out of the resource.
Finally, where would the people who own the player shops go to sell their resources? It would just be a money losing venture.
 
I like /shop is a great plugin. It is simple, and very effective. I do not want the auction plugin (if that is an option) because it causes to much spam. If you set a time limit between auctions that might help but other than that. I do not want /auction.

I +1 player shops because i think it would be great for users to have more of an input towards the economy. I feel that there should be a warp area to certain shops. The way you would achieve a warp is by applying for one and showing that you are responsible enough to stock your items. This would be usefull as even the small time shops without a warp would still be able to sell and still can compete in prices
 
I don't really like the idea of player shops. If someone wants to sell something, they could just say so in chat, and getting the plugin installed/updated could be a pain. As Striker said, it could result in even more spam. Coolio also made a good point, that you can just spam the shop, which is quite convenient.

Edit: After re-reading the other posts, I do think player shops could work, but I think the /shop should remain
 
i agree that /shop should remain. most people would have competitive prices towards the /shop but it could remain as a luxury of not having to go anywheres.

There is a command within the auction plugin that will mute the auctions for you.
 
The lack of an unlimited shop (or server owned shop) is not an issue with ChestShop. So ChestShop could be a suitable replacement for /shop. Tho I would vote for it to be in addition to /shop not a replacement.
 
I loved /shop and still traded lke crazy with the other players when needed, when the server was a lot crowded. In my time zone the server is almost empty now.

It sounds like the global shop is a must keep and we won't be getting rid of it. Still lots to discuss on our end and we don't want to lose focus on current projects so we'll loop back later on this topic.
 
I like the current shop setup, but I would like if more things were available. Like hardened clay or quartz.
 
Hardened clay I don't agree with in the same way as I don't agree that stone should be in the shop. It should just be for the raw materials that you need, of which there is clay in the shop that you can then make hardened clay out of.
