The slimes I've encountered so far have been glitched. They bounce up and down far too quickly / are only partially visible and dont' take damage. However they are able to push the character around. A larger slime was not dealing damage...
 
Since slimes are disabled does that mean slime balls will be added to the shop? In 1.7 some people might need them to make sticky pistons.
