For old times sake we have archived the forums to keep bot spam down and keep the original history of the server archived for future players to browse. just curious jeff, what questions would these be that the pvp mod would/could get asked?
what sort of question would they need to ask that they would need someone special to hear it?
 
I'm also curious about that. There wouldn't be any special questions or problems for this Mod really. The only one I can think of is combat logging, but unless we get a definitive rule against it, that's not an issue. What they'd really be for is to hear the people in that world. I know it sounds dumb, but I think that it could benefit the server. There's lots of people who play in PvP, and directing their complaints and suggestions to one person might help.
 
So there are no questions except combat logging, which can't be controlled either way unless a decision/plugin is implemented.
I cant think of a single question that someone can ask that a special pvp mod could answer
 
Yeah, I see your point. There's not much this person would do, so it's just up to the mods+ to talk about it, and see if there's any need for it based on the number of staff and such.
 
its not just pvp logging think about it like some people think there base is impenetrable then someone finds a way to destroy it and that person who owned it calls hacker or even against x-rayers like i made a base for a friend under lava to prevent x-rayers from seeing it but a "faction that shal not be named" found there way into it where all the signs of it being there were covered up

This RM or MOD would have to deal with issues like that aswell but it would take a lot of stress off MOD's that do not even pvp so they dont know what goes on just sayn
 
I think it comes down to a situation of responsibility.

for example in my UT2004 ladder there was a ONS only admin.

he would take care of that ladder and be the ruling judge and also the person that any ONS players would go to to ask about mods and any changes to ruling as well as what the current rules are.

They would know that this admin would know what hes talking about and would know all the answers.

he was also answering questions from other mods that dint know any thing about ONS or dint care about it but had to make a choice for it.

right now a user that pvp's on our server gets so many mix messages and mods don't even know all the rules that apply to pvp.

if we had one person that knew all this and could handle all that info and make sure the players understand why certain rules are made.

then we would have a happier pvp community.

I think in general us staff+ think we are handling pvp well.

but its my opinion just from going on vent and seeing chat that we are def not.

maybe a option is to tag some mods as pvp active. and others as not so that users know which on to go to for help in pvp.

but that would not help the impartial idea that we had... still its another option.

I will keep it open for anther few days and then lock it up and move this convo to a final discussion we will def make public our ruling thanks every one for your input and taking the time to make yourself heard.
 
Okay, I hate to back-peddle, but I'm seeing how this rank isn't all that needed. They wouldn't be different from the current ranks really, except for the name. All staff monitor chat, jail/ban when needed, and help out when we can. All this rank would do is give one staff the job of paying just a little bit more attention to PvP, which some of us already do. Do we need this rank then? I don't see how this rank would cause any harm, only help. I agree with lofp that it could help by adding a better chain of command for PvP, where the PvP people know who to go to. What it really comes down to is if this rank would help enough to justify it.
 
well i really dont see mods or any RMs in pvp (kking is an exception).
i think it would be a good idea if pvp rules get stronger in the server.
if more mods and RMs came into pvp they could handle it but untill that happens i support the idea
 
A moderator would be great that is dedicated to survival but Mods are busy with other things. This SM would not be a mod he would be like an RM but for survival. And Jeff i am not saying the RM's could not handle this but the RM are much to busy in build either building or helping people on there claims. This person must be trustworthy. And Fluffy i know that the RMs can handle everything but whenever i ask an RM about something in survival they say they are much to busy for survival right now so this person would handle all things survival related. Please all RM's MOD's ADMIN's etc. replay to me with a simple message saying that you either support or do not support this idea thank you for your time.

Lets go back to this quote, I completely agree with striker, he should be this new 'pvp manager' I agree with him for a few reasons as follows:

Reason 1- Well Striker is completely pvp orientated, even in build worlds Striker still seems to hold a grudge for some sort of pvp related issue, for example, me leaving RGS, i'm still waiting for him to forgive me.

Reason 2- Earlier on it was said that they have to be unbiased, and we all know Striker is completely unbiased, he owns a faction, so of course he isn't going to agree with them when he's wrong, that's what makes a good faction leader right? Not sticking with your faction but instead agreeing with the others because they're right?

Reason 3- Well this is the most important reason, Striker is so modest it is unbelievable, just look at that quote i've gave, 'I nominate myself' every modest person completely thinks they are capable of staff duties.

The final reason- Well this is my last point me and Striker have a great relationship, since I left RGS i've had many conversations with Striker on how much I like him and, well, how much he doesn't like me, so, i guess its a one sided friendship but still, that is my final reason.

So overall I believe these make the perfect qualities for a staff position!

I nominated my self because i didn't know that we would have to leave our faction. i thought we could stay.
 
is there a way we can put up a pole/vote and put in the name we want to be SM for pvp and make it so it cant be your own?
 
Let's let the mods+ first decide if there is even going to be this rank before we start thinking about who it could be.
