It's be awesome if we could have the ability to sell off any resource... Like wheat, eggs, ink, ect...
Doesn't matter if it's for .01 but at least to get something.

I think it's because they are too easily farmable. You could make a ton of money for doing almost nothing.
 
It is possible that items can be added as sell only for nothing in the shop so you can get rid of unwanted items.
However it has caused problems in the past which is why that option is no longer available...
