Striker accidentally logged on as my account when he went to post this... ad.

I usually make the site remember me so i dont have to log on all the time.

Since this thread is about his store, heres my opinion.

Striker has no current knowledge of correct pricing. The items could be way too cheap, or way too expensive. I would recommend someone educate him on proper competitive price setting.

Dont ban striker or punish him otherwise.

it was an accident. he will try not to do it again.

besides, he already got his punishment.

I ruined his ad.

Well that's very interesting.
If he really wants a competitive price then set the price somewhere between the shop buy and sell price, that way you'd make a profit over selling the item to the shop and the customer will get a cheaper price buying from you than if they were to buy from /shop.

The problem with player made stores is the demand for items. People soon find out that people want a large quanitity of certain items, which simply can't be collected quickly enough so they end up getting it from /shop anyway instead of waiting for you to collect the items for you.
The truth is that player made shops tend to fail very quickly.

i used to sell things like logs allot, what i did was take the average of the selling and buying price of the ingame shop plugin (like alien suggested). And what alien said in the last paragraph is very true. If you want to make a shop, please try to keep the buy-able items to a minimum. e.g.: sell smoothstone and glass or somthing (that are two things i'd like to have a quick shop for as they require time... lol)

anyways, if you are gonna start a shop: Good luck man!

I agree with alien 12, make it cheaper then the buy price, but more pricy then the sell prices, so you know you actually made some decent profit.
What i do for large quantities is say i sell (insert block type here), and always make sure to have a large supply with me at all times , so when someone wants a large amount of ( insert block type here) they get it very quickly.

the best things to sell are items which require a lot of crafting like bookcases, glass, and other stuff the shop cant sell. If the shop dosnt sell it, you can set any price that is agreed upon.

TBH the profit margins are so slim its not really worth it in the long run, but if you got smoothstone up at a reasonable cost I may consider it. ~5 caps a stack is prob decent for smooth. Using charcoal you'll eek 2 caps/stack profit on avg

I think this thread just turned into a business advise thread.

Whatever, pointed out some mistakes and some bad decisions, hope he'll learn from it.

I certainly do....

u lose hope when someone offers to sell u redstone at one cap each redstone.
