Now that I have your attention, I'm Ted. How's it goin' ?

I'm not really sure how this multiplayer Minecraft stuff works, so if someone would care to explain it to me, that would be grrreat!

I really enjoy Minecraft, I even enjoyed spending 7 hours making a huge mine, accidentally hitting lava and dieing a painful, terrible, cubed death. What I didn't enjoy, however.. Was not being able to find my mine. :| That was rough.. But, I did figure out how to make torches, which was AWESOME! >:D

Am I a Minecraft noob? I would hope that much is obvious. The real problem I have with Minecraft is the lack of people to talk to, and I've been trying to find servers to play on, but all the I.P. Addresses I find don't let me in cuz I'm not white listed.

I figured you guys might be a good place to start, you seem like a well rounded and well established community, and I'm only a 16 hour drive away from Toronto.

Oh, and on an unrelated to Minecraft note, anyone hailing from the Moncton, NB area looking for another Dungeons and Dragons player, I am 19 years old and without group. I'll bring the pizza if you get the beer!

Sounds like you are in the situation I was in a few weeks ago! This is an awesome server/community, and you could certainly learn a lot and have some fun here. You need to apply to become a builder: I'm not sure if they are accepting new builders at the moment, since the server got updated recently and there are some things that aren't fully working, and just letting everyone in at the moment would probably mean lots of griefing and people would lose the hard work they put in.

I would advise you to apply to be a builder anyway, you'll get in eventually! Without being on the builder list, you can join the server, walk around and chat i think, but you can't build/break anything! :)
 
Hey, thanks for the info!

I get the whole griefing thing, it's nothing I'd ever do, but I understand that trust is earned, not just shelled out on silver platters. In order to join the server, do I need to download anything? What's the I.P? And do I play on my desktop or is this done through a web browser? Also, I'm curious to know if there's anything I need to download to enable these uhh, "plug-ins", I'm reading about on here.
 
You can run Minecraft on a browser or the client for the server. All you have to do is in the IP field, type server.minecraftaddicts.com

And don't worry about the pluggins, that's all server side :)
