Heh, I love that idea. That would be pretty fun, and npc villages shows its possible to do. Maybe someone will make a mod to do it.
 
thats a really good idea, now lets hope some superModder or just one of the Mojang crew sees this...

Without some kind of overlay plugin (like Spout, for example) this would be nearly impossible to implement outside of the original code unless it were done poorly... and that would suck.

This is a fantastic idea and is something that needs to be taken directly to Mojang for integration at release.
 
mojang already mentioned that they had something like this discussed already. Check their twitter feed if you dont believe me
 
This was on r/Minecraft so any modder or Mojang staff would most likely have seen it.
