Vote time, and kick

I've been wanting vote options on the world since day one but just haven't gotten around to it.

Vote time will soon be an option. This will allow a majority vote, keeping it fair for everyone, to change time and this will be the only way time will change. I'd like to ask all admins and members to not force a time change unless the majority of the server agrees to it by a vote.

I'll be adding vote kick as well. If this gets out of hand from people note using the command how it's intended to be used, I'll remove it or limit its access.

I'll test this evening and hopefully have it running tonight.

If someone initiates a vote kick and fails, is there repercussions against them?

This is why I'm asking members and admins to not force time change to so no one is playing favorites.

No repercussion for a failed vote kick, but that's an interesting concept. I don't think it would work because it would still be possible for a legitimate vote kick to not go through because of people being afk or simply not voting.

yea afk people would not alow it to go.. or people in mines wont vote.

or just one guy was like nope evey time this thing pops up im gonna say no... so we could open up time greifers.

It looks like this plugin isn't ready for the big leagues. Voting has been disabled for now and we'll continue forcing the time change.

I think we should give our community a little more credit Fluffy. I'm certainly not interested in playing with people that would go out of their way to make the experience worse for others for no reason. Though the vote plugin may not be ready "for the bigs", we should still make sure that people want day rather than simply changing it every time someone shouts it out. A few people have been working on torch/lava lighting recently and have requested a period of night to do so.

that is true static.. but remember if this comes into play one guy might always want day. but everyone needs day to work outdoors without torches.

also if this is a majority ruling then it could be that its always day.. and anyone who needs night shouldn't have the power to veto by himself. the vetoing system i doubt will go over well especially for any newbies.

If someone requests a period of night to work on some outdoor lighting, I would imagine that others on the server will generally be gracious about voting for some night to help that person out. What Jangles is aiming at is that we should be taking everyone into consideration before we flip the lights on rather than just doing it automatically at every request. Easy enough.

Yeah... and that takes us back to the point of this thread. Let's be vigilant about having a consensus before we flip the lights on. It only takes a moment.

I vision a large city with light posts if that's ever an item one day, and a better torch system so night works better on a creative server. I have a feeling Notch, or someone, will introduce better lighting with new items making dark not so annoying.

We can keep playing as it is now because this hasn't been an issue on our world. I'd just like to get comfortable with night because I still think it's important to the game. Anyone disagree?

Opps...I've been changing it to day every time somebody asks. So far nobody has complained, so in my opinion the vote time thing isn't really needed. But the vote kick could be of some use...maybe.
