Day 290 to 296 (30th April to 6th May)

Another busy week, working away from Dalaran. I didn't get half the things done that i had planned. I'd like to give special thanks, this week, to my elusive neighbour, Murdockk. Hes had the claim plot next to mine in Historic from day 1, and i finally got to meet him as i found him digging away. Also, thanks to Bobcatfish. Both these guys helped finish square 46 and bobcat started and cleared all the sand of 3 new squares (86.87.88).
Its a Bank Holiday, here in the UK, tomorrow, so i'm hoping on catching up on some of these side projects.

Day 297 to 303 (7th to 13th May)

Dalaran has reached 10 months of build time. Thanks to the continued help of Murdockk and Bobcatfish, we managed 3 whole squares, this week (58,59,60). I also finished off a couple more of my side projects. My secret one in Creative however, is turning into a bit of a monster. If Alien can't cut/paste it into its position in Build for me, then i'm going to have to build it by hand. (Well, that would teach me for going a bit mad with the design again).

Day 304 to 310 (14th to 20th May)

A big thanks, this week, to Cooliojulio, Bobcatfish and Murdockk. Thanks to you guys we managed to complete 3 squares, this week. (72,73,75). The next few squares in this row are under the city. They are'nt as high as previous blocks but they are in almost complete darkness, because of the shadow of the city.
I'm only working on the one side project at the moment, and after a slow start, its now galloping along nicely. Hopfully it will be finished in another week, two at the most. I will then be able to devote all my time back to Dalaran.

Day 311 to 317 (21st to 27th May)

Two squares completed this week (76,77), and half of 78. Thanks again to my regular helpers Murdockk and Bobcatfish. Ill sort out a special thankyou for all who have helped, once its all over.

Day 318 to 324 (28th May to 3rd June)

Thanks to my invisable team (invisable because they usually work while i'm offline), we have managed 5 squares this week. My thanks go to everyone, including NineteenGiraffes who i have'nt seen in a while.

I like to see what everyone else is upto in the World of Minecraft, and i often check out Planet Minecraft to see if anyone else is building Dalaran. And lo and behold, it looks like a french group have finished one.

I checked it out: The layout is spot on. The scale is 1:1 (1 block is a metre), while mine is about 1:2 to 2:3, smaller because of the origanal height limit as i mentioned before. However, i do feel that these guys have'nt got the building heights right; mine is better scaled in that respect. Also, their texture pack is'nt great either. A big respectful thumbs-up from me goes to their version of the Violet Citadel. This is the biggest building in Dalaran and its the one i struggled with the most. With the new height limit i was just going to increase the height of the towers, but after seeing what these guys have done, its inspired me to knock it down and rebuild it from scratch. (Just this one building and not the whole city).
Well done Deejaystix and team.

Day 325 to 331 (4th to 10th June)

11 Months have now passed since beginning this project. Two squares completed this week, thanks to my mystery team. However, i feel that Bobcatfish and CptCarnage must have got bored at some point in the digging process, as they ended up leaving more crap than taking away. (As you can see in the pictures).

Day 332 to 338 (11th to 17th June)

Thanks to Murdockk and the rest of the team for all the digging, ths week. Square 81 is now complete.
In between clearing stone and showing the occasional visitor around Dalaran, I also helped out on the servers latest building contest, run by Yennage. It was and still is, a great success. We have alot of tallented builders here. The contest runs for another week, and i may have to part-build the staff showhouse on plot 1, if no-one else comes forward.

Day 339 to 345 (18th to 24th June)

A big thanks to Murdockk this week. As well as submitting an entry to the House building contest in the Creative world, he still found time to work on the Hole. Between us, we managed 4 squares. I also took a small break from the digging by doing a little landscaping around the Hole, just to use up some of my stocks of dirt.

Day 346 to 352 (25th June to 1st July)

Four squares completed this week, thanks to my regular helpers. A special thanks to Nineteengiraffes for doing two of them without me knowing. The "1 Year" anniversary is fast approaching and a special celebration is on the cards for that date.

Day 353 to 359 (2nd to 8th July)

Thanks to my team, we completed 2 squares this week. MrJangles and i, also decide on a date for anniversary get-together. It will be Sunday 15th July, next weekend, at around 12.00 EST.
I've already made a start on the venue, with a large circus-type tent. Hopefully, MrJ will remember to put something up on the forums, to inform all the Addicts.

Day 360 to 366 (9th to 15th July)

One whole year has passed since beginning this project. Sadly, our server celebration didn't happen. MrJ hasn't been around for a week or so, so i expect hes busy in Real Life; Real Life always comes first, no matter how big a Minecraft Addict you are. I celebrated with a RL cup of english tea and a cherry bakewell.

My side project with Nineteengiraffes, in Arid took most my time, this week. Poor Murdockk must think hes the only one digging in Historic, at the moment. I did manage a few shovels full on the hole, every now and then. Between us, we finished squares 94 and 101.

Day 367 to 387 (16th July to 5th August)

First, let me apologise for the delay in updating this thread. This reply covers three weeks.
During the first of those weeks, many Addicts turned up to lend a shovel on my hole. On the saturday, only hours away from MrJ's event at Dalaran, the server got Hack-attacked, as most of you know.
The second week was spent waiting for the server to come back online, while the staff were busy with the huge task of improving security and rolling back the massive amounts of damage caused.
Just as things were beginning to get back to normal, I disappear for a week, on my holiday.
Now that i'm back, i can continue working on my project.
One problem ive had is the fact that the most recent "back-up" for Historic was nearly a month old. This meant that the rollback gave me back about 12 squares or about 324,000 blocks. Dismayed at having to redig all this, Tigger and Alien were both kind enough to copy/paste all but 2 squares from the Griefed world to the replacement world. (I was fortunate that Dalaran was untouched during the attack.) I'd like to thank them both.
Also, thanks to all those that continued the project, while i was away, whoever you are. They completed 4 squares of digging.

Day 388 to 394 (6th to 12th August)

It's taken a while to get back into the old routine. Minecraft has updated to 1.3 now and we usually see a drop in server numbers when people update before the server does and wonder why they can't connect. So, it was a bit quiet to begin with. Thanks to Jeff and Murdockk for helping out; we managed square 110, which was one of the big-uns.

DalD394.1.jpgDalD394.2.jpgDalD394.3.jpg

Day 395 to 401 (13th to 19th August)

A few problems have occured with the latest 1.3 update. The main one that is effecting the addicts is our server, shop mod. The issues that are coming up have forced the admins to disable it for the time being.
Now that means that myself and the others helping on the hole have nowhere to dispose of all the cobble that we are digging up. If we leave it on the ground, it causes lag. And i dont fancy making and placing a thousand chests just to store the stuff.
So, ive decided to start on the next stage of the build, to run along side the hole-digging stage.
As, my inventory fills, i cook the cobble and use it as material for other stage.
The stage in question is the shaping of the sides of the hole. As it is, it goes dead straight from top to bottom, looking very un-natural. So, I'm using dirt and smoothstone to shape it better as you can see from the pictures.
As a result, the digging process has slowed, as i'm digging and building at the same time.
Thanks to Murdockk and CptCarnnage, we managed to finish square 109.

Day 402 to 408 (20th to 26th August)

Another week without the shop. By working on the cliff walls, surrounding the city, at the same time as digging, i'm using up all my unwanted material. I must say it feels good to be placing blocks again. Thanks to my helpers, we completed another large square and made a good start on another one. The next few are under the city and are only about half the height of the surrounding ones. We should get a few done, next week.

DalD408.1.jpgDalD408.2.jpgDalD408.3.jpgDalD408.4.jpg

Day 409 to 415 (27th August to 2nd September)

Three squares completed this week, thanks to my helpers. the shop was up for a short while and then went down again. So, i continued building around the edges to use up some of my surplus blocks.
The first section of chasm wall is finished now and once i add some grass to the dirt blocks at the base, it should look effective.

DalD415.1.jpgDalD415.2.jpgDalD415.3.jpgDalD415.4.jpgDalD415.5.jpgDalD415.6.jpgDalD415.7.jpgDalD415.8.jpg

Day 416 to 422 (3rd to 9th September)

Squares 103 and 104 completed, this week. Thanks go to my helpers; Murdockk for painstakingly making a dirt land bridge, to link some grass blocks down to the floor of the chasm, so that my grass can grow down there; and to Bobcatfish9 for clearing up all the remaining unwanted water from the claim, ready for digging.

DalD422.1.jpgDalD422.2.jpgDalD422.3.jpgDalD422.4.jpgDalD422.5.jpg

Day 423 to 429 (10th to 16th September)

Another two squares completed, this week. Just three more rows (25 squares) to go. Thanks to Murdockk, Bobcat and Nineteen for their help with the digging. I'm already planning the next 2 stages, once the hole is finished. The first is the walls of the chasm, which i've already made a start on. I was going to have two waterfalls, cascading into the hole, but have decided to make one of them into a fantasy-based Dam, instead.
The other stage is to finish shaping the bottom of the city; the huge rock that it sits on. Then, i can get rid of the ugly cobble platform ive got under it. That should leave plenty of space for the third stage.

DalD429.1.jpgDalD429.2.jpgDalD429.3.jpgDalD429.4.jpgDalD429.5.jpg

Day 430 to 436 (17th to 23rd September)

Square 116 completed this week. I must admit, most of my time was spent finishing off my secret project in Arid, that was started back in April. Now that is over, I can devote 100% of my time on Dalaran.
Sunday was MCA's second anniversary. My secret project became an Airship building contest and the Museum, whose ceiling gave me so many headaches, was opened to the masses. Thanks again MrJ.

DalD436.1.jpgDalD436.2.jpg

Day 437 to 443 (24th to 30th September)

Three squares completed this week thanks to my usual team and some special diggy-guests. Again, i didn't spend that much time digging. The first week of my contest involved alot of admin but now thats settled down abit i should be "renewing" my golden pick like nobodies business.
