Snapshot 12W22A

New/Improved Features:
Trading with villagers has been updated
Villagers can now trade 2 items with you (e.g. 1 emerald 10 gravel -> 10 flint)
Enchantment system has been re-balanced
A full enchantment table set with bookshelves doesn't go up to 50, but 30
At the bottom of the 3 enchantments it always shows you the highest number possible
Using level 30 you have a lot more luck; almost all items get at least 2 enchantments
Emerald Ore can be found underground again (only in Extreme Mountain Biomes still)
Added Tripwire Hooks
Added potions to the creative inventory; found under brewing
Added Block of Emerald
Added delete item, armor and crafting to survival inventory when in creative
Pausing should work in single-player now
Some minor terrain changes
Added an "adventure" game mode (/gamemode 2)
- You cannot break or place any blocks
- You can interact with any blocks like doors and levers and you can buy things from villagers
Added cobblestone and stonebrick monster eggs to the creative inventory

Bug Fixes:
In the redstone tab of the creative inventory, the redstone torch is now on instead of being off
In the decoration tab of the creative inventory, the redstone torch got removed

New Bugs:
You can place wire from the tripwire in the air and once updated it will drop string
You can't hear TNT when you are out of an 16 block range.

New redstone activating block sounds interesting, not sure what the better creative inventory consists of (hopefully it's not another layout change). Then of course there's the big one of /gamemode 2 although I figure that's just a placeholder for features coming after 1.3
 
Minecraft Update 12w25 (June 21, 2012)

Update Includes:

  • Added an "Open to LAN" menu in the in-game menu, which allows players to open their world to other players. In the menu, the player can choose to turn cheats on or off, and choose the game mode.
  • The multiplayer menu now scans for LAN servers (singleplayer worlds which are on the same LAN and have been published with the /publish command).
  • Villagers may remove a trade option after it has been used at least 3 times.
  • Added wooden stairs for the remaining three wood types (spruce, birch and jungle).
  • Redstone (including repeaters, torches, levers, and pressure plates) and Rails can now be placed on slabs and stairs positioned upside down.
  • Removed the downwards knockback while drowning.
  • Pigs now drop 1-3 Porkchops instead of 0-2.
  • Potentially improved memory usage.[2]
  • “A lot of smaller changes and fixes”.
  • The /tp command now allows teleporting to specified coordinates.
  • The syntax for this is /tp [target player] <x> <y> <z>.
  • The other functionality of the /tp command is still there.


A friend and inviting system is in the works, pretty exciting.

The only problem is, with the new creative mode menus, any texturepacks from before the snapshot will mess it up, and any packs made after aren't backwards compatible. (I know from experience... More than once, I've opened Minecraft with the snapshot version of the Xaiwaker pack, and been like "What the heck?" when I open my inventory. It totally glitches out, and I never have a copy of the snapshot version of the pack with me when I play snapshots. But it IS more efficient, I'll give it that.
 
GLowstone BUD switches no longer work, but you can use upside down half slabs to make the instant wire. I tested in the new snapshot. Glowstone vertical transmission still works like it did before and thank goodness for that!

Update includes:

  • Performance improvements, including reduced CPU, RAM & bandwidth requirements.
  • Updated Pistons to make them less error-prone, thus they also appear to update slower. This also altered the way Pistons work, so you might have to adapt your repeater delays and similar.
  • Added /debug <start|stop> command.
  • Signs are stackable up to 16.
  • Crafting them now gives 3 signs instead of 1 with the same recipe.
  • Creative mode inventory now shows potion effects.
  • Boats now drop boats when destroyed

the signs always were irritating.. and now the boat when fall to pieces when i crash!! :D
 
Just tested that new snapshot. Instant wire has been ruined. Stupid change to pistons IMO.

Edit: In fact, any existing instant wire is now slower than repeaters.
 
Sounds like previous redstone creations are going to be messed up in the update.
 
I just finished my card picker, and now my random number generator, and all my instant wire on that needs to be replaced :(
 
Sorry to hear that. The new update will just take some getting used too.
 
We assume it's redstone in unloaded chunks, which would be quite amazing.
