Having a way to harvest bonemeal without buying it from the shop is also a huge bonus. As long as the mobs can't hurt us or our creations, keeping them would only benefit our community and allow us to enjoy minecraft to the fullest.

I second that!

I bet most of the people who voted no didn't read that there's no environmental damage from creepers.

I'm guessing you didn't read the whole thread. Does "No enviromental damage" ring any bells? :D

I bet most of the people who voted no didn't read that there's no environmental damage from creepers.

I don't understand why there will be no environmental damage from creepers...as I said earlier, the ssploding bush monsters can cause damage, can't they?

If we use mobs, there will be people harvesting the items so we better not allow mob-drops to be sellable, maybe even crafts using those items. Also, although it may be a little bit interesting, I think mobs with /god mode would be pretty pointless. Perhaps only admins/members should have god mode available? Maybe god mode shouldn't be available but in certain areas?

I think that not allowing mob-drops to be sellable shouldn't be necessary. You can just regulate the price, right? I mean there are other things that are harvestable, and sellable, like cactus. I mean if a player wants, they can 'harvest' and sell almost anything. I think everything should be available to buy/sell (well everything in it's most basic form anyway...if crafting is necessary for an item, maybe leave that up to the player).

If you remove /god, then I think we move from being a creative server to the next level. I'm not saying that's a bad thing...I relish the perils, but some people will constantly die and lose their shit, and complain and whine :P

Great response. Thanks everyone. We'll let the poll run for another day.

To keep the server creative, no environmental damage would be caused. The items dropped by mobs would likely not be offered in the store but we'll wait for edgeofblade's decision. The shop needs a lot of work with the introduction of several new items and we'll be giving it an overhaul.

It's very important for an option to disable mob spawn in specific areas, like mushtown, and jeffvog's stuff because he HATES mobs... Mobs will be disabled until there are these options.

we arent really strictly a creative server though we are creative/survival any creative server i have been on you are allowed to spawn items anytime you need

and to people that dont understand the creeper not doing damage its a mod for the server that resest the land after the creeeper blows up

I don't think "Creative" is defined well enough. Since there's no survival, we must be creative. Servers that are creative with /item can take a hike. This what a real creative server is all about.

I would really like that, that way you will see more structures that will have a function and creativity will be sparked as well. Also it may become a tighter community cause the benefits of having a village.

Creepers 'splode, stuff goes boom, then it resets like the 'splosion never happened.

I don't like the idea of there being mobs roaming the map. I know some people enjoy having them, but one thing I've really loved about this server is the pure creative aspect it holds.

Someone mentioned an idea I did like though; the "mob island," or something of that sort. Maybe there could be a place (a large island or potion of the map?) where mobs would spawn where /god is disabled (if this is possible). Some sort of survival island where raids are held or where the brave could build?

I'll respect whatever is chosen, and I do like how even if a creeper explodes, all our stuff "pops" back... But I don't like the idea of having /god disabled for some people (unless, like Coffee mentioned, it's in a designated zone.)

Thanks!

Thanks Seattle. The island sounds like a great idea and I can see us going in that direction for exactly your reasons.

There's no mod that will disable mob spawning in a region yet but there's lots of demand for one so I can see it coming soon.

as long as i can be in an area where there are no mobs, im in.

im here to build, not kill bad guys.

I don't get how you can't be creative with mobs, there is day and night. I think I can speak for most that we usually build at day and the only day mobs are creepers and those are completely immobilized now. An island with mobs will only be turned into a factory in the end, whats the fun of that? Also, you put some torches down they will not spawn.

In the end it will promote creativity and more community feeling.

One point I just thought of: If you're one who doesn't want to "see" mobs, turn your difficulty to "peaceful." You won't see them at all, and as long as you have /god on, they won't be able to do anything to you.

I agree that a "mob island" would become a factory, and would not be creative at all. I think everybody would be happy if there was an opt-out option for mobs, similar to how the protection mod is used. That way, if you don't want mobs, just turn them off around your stuff.

I think that the mobs wouldn't do any harm. I always enjoy mobs, and it certainly would make mazes that much more interesting. Plus the element of stress is removed when they can't kill you or damage your buildings.

i vote yes to mobs, please!

edit: i didnt actually vote, i think the polls are closed.

I wanna know who voted no....those babies need to voice why, instead of voting and running away, otherwise their votes shouldn't count.
